You're not alone in this
Does This Sound Familiar?
You've probably gotten pretty good at thinking things through. You consider every possibility, replay conversations, second-guess your decisions, and try to anticipate what could go wrong. You know what you should do — but actually trusting yourself enough to do it can feel much harder. You may have thoughts like:
“I can't turn my brain off.”
“I replay conversations over and over.”
“I always expect the worst.”
“I care too much about what other people think.”
“I know what I should do, but I can't seem to do it.”
“I keep ending up in the same unhealthy relationships.”
“I put everyone else's needs before my own.”
“I'm exhausted from overthinking every decision.”
“I just want my old self back.”
If even one of those feels a little too familiar, you're not broken — you're just tired of carrying it alone.
“Anxiety doesn't arrive all at once. It builds — one overthought decision, one bitten-back feeling, one pattern you swore you'd break — until one day you barely recognize the person carrying it all.”
Therapy is where that stops building, and starts unwinding.

Meet Kate
Kate Steadman, LCPC — Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor · Telehealth in MD & RI
I work with people who are exhausted from overthinking everything—the anxious planners, the people who constantly second-guess themselves, and the ones who know exactly what they “should” do but still can't seem to do it.
You don't have to figure it all out by yourself. That's where I come in.
My job isn't to hand you more advice you already know, or let you spend an hour talking in circles. It's to sit alongside you, help you understand what's really keeping you stuck, and then work with you to create a way forward. I'll listen, ask the questions you may not be asking yourself, help you see what you might be missing, and—when you need it—gently push you to do something different.
I'll meet you where you are, but I won't necessarily let you stay there. Sometimes I'll be a sounding board. Sometimes I'll be your biggest cheerleader. And sometimes I'll gently call you out when I think you're getting in your own way.
Therapy with me is about turning insight into action. Together, we'll work on understanding your patterns, building confidence, navigating change, and developing the tools to handle what comes next. You don't have to do this alone. And you don't have to stay stuck.
More About Me“I'll ask the questions you're avoiding, because I believe you deserve more than simply talking about the problem.”
What changes in therapy
The Transformation
FROM
Where You Are Now
- 1
Anxious
Your nervous system stays on high alert, even when things are technically fine.
- 2
Overwhelmed
Everything feels like too much, and rest never quite restores you.
- 3
Stuck
You keep circling the same patterns, knowing something needs to change but not how.
TO (WITH THERAPY)
Where You Can Be
Confident
You trust your judgment and stop second-guessing every decision.
Self-aware
You understand your patterns and can choose a different response.
Capable of moving forward
You stop waiting for life to feel safe and start building it anyway.
My Approach
Solution-focused. Not hours of venting.
If you're looking for someone to just nod along, I'm probably not your therapist. If you're ready to actually move, here's what that looks like:
Understand why you're stuck
Not just what to do about it — we explore the root of the pattern so change actually sticks.
Identify long-standing patterns
The loop didn't appear overnight. We'll name what's driving it and how it keeps repeating.
Challenge you, not just listen
I will gently push back when needed, because insight without action rarely creates change.
Teach practical coping skills
Tools you can use immediately — not someday, not after years of therapy, but this week.
Work toward lasting behavioral change
Not just understanding the problem, but building a different way of responding to it.
